If you want to be friended, please comment here. All my fics are unlocked, in case that's why you're adding me. :)

And some facts about me, simply because I like the sound of my own voice...

If you got the reference I'm totally adding you... )

I doubt anyone has even read this
So, if you think we have enough in common (or not), just comment and I'll add you back. ♥
Title: and we're already too late (if we arrive at all)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] wave_of_sorrow
Fandom: Harry Potter
Character(s)/Pairing(s): Harry, Hermione, Ron, Ginny, mentions of others; mentioned/implied relationships are all canon-compliant
Rating: PG
Word Count: 3,676
Disclaimer: Don't own. Don't claim. No money being made.
Summary: Of time, and tea, and the things you can't change.
Spoilers/Warnings: set post!war, pre!epilogue (i.e. potential spoilers for anything before the epilogue). Also, commas. A lot of them.
A/N: First ever Harry Potter fic. I'm surprised this is what I wrote; always figured it would be slash, but that's my muse for you. I've only started poking around AO3 for HP fic after I wrote this, so I have no idea how things work in this fandom, or where to post this for that matter.

A big thank you to the lovely [livejournal.com profile] amaraal for giving this a once-over and declaring it good to go. <3 (Note: This was not beta'd, so any and all mistakes are entirely mine.)

Feeback of any kind would be deeply appreciated.

you can't change what's already happened )
Hey guys.

I've been thinking about this post for a while and could never quite figure out what to say it. Or how to say it, for that matter.

So I'm just going to settle with this:

I've had a rough time. I couldn't cope. I just had to disappear for a while. It wasn't even a conscious decision to stay away; I just couldn't bring myself to switch on my laptop. It's taken me a while to reach a point where I could deal with day to day life. And then it took me quite some time to muster the courage to even switch on my laptop. Ridiculous, I know.

Anyhow. I'm here, I'm trying to dig through emails and messages and participate. I'm not promising anything. I've just missed you guys a lot and I wish I'd come back sooner. But I was scared of what I've missed or that nobody even cares anymore or that I just couldn't get back into. I still am, but I'm trying not to let that stop me.

As I said, I'm trying to catch up but I'll probably miss some stuff, so if you messaged/emailed me or want to bring something to my attention you can always do so again, in case it just gets lost in the heap of stuff that happened.

I've really missed all of you and I hope you're okay. ♥
Because I do this meme every time it pops up.

How it works:
1) Put your nearest music playing device on shuffle/random.
2) Post the first one/two lines of the first 25 songs that come up (unless they include the name of the song, in which case you may skip to the next).
3) Have your flist guess the songs.
4) Google or any other search engine = cheating.

how long to sing this song? )
Title: Rise And Fall
Author: [livejournal.com profile] wave_of_sorrow
Beta(s): [livejournal.com profile] jenlee1 and [livejournal.com profile] shadowsofapen
Character(s)/Pairing(s): John Watson, John Watson/Mary Morstan, Sherlock Holmes/John Watson (UST)
Verse: '09!movie
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 7,344
Disclaimer: Don't own. Don't claim. No money being made.
Summary: Of sins and virtues, sinners and saints, and trying to do the right thing.
Spoilers/Warnings: some spoilers for the book canon (FINA, EMPT), minor character death, vague mentions of drug (ab)use, angst, ridiculously long sentences, happy endings that simply do not come.
A/N: The bits at the beginning and end are taken from the poem The Tyger by William Blake. The title plays on the quote by Shakespeare, "Some rise by sin and some by virtue fall." There are two more Shakespeare quotes in the fic itself, both italicalized and from A Midsummer Night's Dream and Troilus And Cressida, respectively.

This was written for [livejournal.com profile] thebetterangels as part of the fic auction hosted on [livejournal.com profile] waltzmatildah 's journal. I'm terribly sorry this took so long, I hope you enjoy it nonetheless!

I would like to thank my two wonderful betas, [livejournal.com profile] jenlee1 and [livejournal.com profile] shadowsofapen , who both did an amazing job. Thank you so much, darlings! I also feel that I should mention, though they tried their best to beat those commas into submission I snuck a few back in when they weren't looking. Any remaining mistakes are entirely mine.

Last but definitely not least, I want to thank the amazing [livejournal.com profile] blacktablet who put the idea in my head, held my hand through writing it, tolerated my panicked emails, gave me inspiration and encouragement, and without whom, frankly, this would never have been written. A large portion of this is entirely thanks to her genius, though she may not always have known she was inspiring me at the time.

Before this turns into even more of an Oscar accpetance speech, here's the fic. As always, comments, constructive criticism and feedback of any kind would be very much appreciated!

semi hiatus

Feb. 1st, 2011 06:34 pm
I will be away for about a week (give or take a couple of days) with very little to no internet access. I might not be able to respond to comments, messages or emails at all during that time.

I did not know this was going to happen and I actually do not have time for this, because there is shit to be done and fic to be written. Ajsjfgjsshdks. Is the universe conspiring against me?! Anyway, I apologize to everyone who's waiting for me to respond to something or has gotten a "I'll get this done this week" from me; you'll need to wait a little longer. Sorry, guys. ♥
I'm participating in the fic fundraiser hosted on [livejournal.com profile] waltzmatildah 's journal.

I'm offering to write either a single 1000+ words fic or one 100+ word drabble for every $1AUD donated.

Every dollar matters, so check it out and see if you're interested in anything that's offered. And to the writers on my flist: if you're able to offer a fic, please do so.

My thread is here.

Summary: See Author's Note.
Spoilers/Warnings: drug use
A/N: Written for [livejournal.com profile] jenlee1 who prompted "Watson has had it with Holmes' drug abuse - perhaps there's been a particuarly frightening overdose-related incident, or perhaps he's just come home one too many times to find Holmes bleeding and incoherent on the settee.

Either way, he issues an ultimatum - either Holmes gives up the needle, or he's leaving.

What happens from there, dear author(s), is entirely in your hands ;)"

This was written in the middle of the night while I was listening to U2's Every Breaking Wave. Any and all feedback or comments are very much appreciated.

Summary: In which the dynamic duo spends a rainy day in bed and German is spoken. Aka pointless fluff.
Spoilers/Warnings: none
A/N: This is for [livejournal.com profile] amaraal who I promised a fic in which Holmes speaks German ages ago. I hope this pleases and makes up for the long wait, dear. <3

"The sound of the rain against the window is muted and muffled where it slips through tightly closed curtains as a distant reminder of the outside world..." )
I'd type up this huge entry about what happened and changed for me in 2010 and what I'm hoping for in 2011, but the truth is I don't feel like pretending that I'm all hopeful and optimistic about next year. So you get something else instead.

2010 has been a shit year for a lot of us (duh) and I'm not one to believe that anything actually changes with the beginning of a new year. I don't make New Year's resolutions or believe this is a new start. I don't wait for things to miraculously get better, because I know they won't. And I still hope that the next 12 months will be better than the previous for all of us.

This goes out to all the people I 'met' through LJ and fandom this year. This is for all the writers and all the artists, the mods and anons, the betas and the hardcore fangirls/boys, the lurkers and the commenters, the ones who inspire and the ones who create, the ones who make you laugh and the ones who make you cry, the ones who cause wank and the ones who become so much more than fellow fans and all those in between.

You people helped me make it through that hell of a year. With your comments and your emails, your messages, your support, your encouragement and amazing feedback you put me back on my feet again and again. Some of you held my hand through writing a particularly trying fic. Some of you listened to me go crazy. Some of you let me spam your inbox when I wasn't sleeping and high on coffee and sugar. Some of you disagreed with me. Some of you inspired me. Some of you made me want to slam my head against the wall. Some of you gave me hope. Some of you were there when nobody else was. Some of you got to know me better than a  lot of my RL friends do. Some of you I grew close with and then drifted apart again. But all of you changed me.

So this is me thanking every single one of you for doing what you did.

Thank you.

I won't wish you a happy new year. Instead, I wish you a brave new year and hope that you get to dream out loud.

Um. I'm back.

A whole lot happened while I was on hiatus, but I don't want to bore you guys with the details. Let's just say I'm very happy to be back. ♥
This journal is on Hiatus until further notice.

And since I'm clogging your flists with depressing and/or annoying shit, have a meme!

LiveJournal, we often think we're close, but really, we know less about each other than we like to think.

So I want you to ask me something you would like to know about me, something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about, or something you've always been curious about but have never asked, or something completely silly that you'd like me to answer for kicks.

No limits on the range of questions, either: ask me anything you want to know about, whether it's a fannish opinion or trivia about my real life or my thoughts on events in the offline world.
