Love isn’t blind, Holmes thinks. Love sees everything, sees right through you, through your skin, sees past the pretences, past your mask of indifference, sees you.

 

No, Love isn’t blind. Love is blinding. Like gold in the sunlight, like an explosion of light, like a supernova. Love is too bright to be looked at for long. And like staring at the sun it renders you blind, replaces light with darkness, joy with sorrow. But never with regret.

 

Holmes likes to think that the reason why Watson is gone, is that he stared at him for too long. Love is blinding.
